Friday May 31, 10AM - 12 Noon and 1:30PM to 3:30PM - MEMBER SKILL SHARING

Location: Center Aisle Genesee   Valley   Quilt   Club   has   many   talented   members   who   are   eager   to   share   their   skills!      You   are   invited   to   stop   by   and   watch   several   experts at   work   demonstrating   what   they   do   best   for   for   two   hours   in   the   morning   and   two   hours   in   the   afternoon.      Be   inspired!     Ask   questions!      Learn something new!  No sign-up required. Jean Lemmon - English Paper Piecing Betsy Speer and Donna Schalge - Wool Applique Cindi Renaldo - Crazy Quilting (photo - GVQC Demo Derby Jan, 2018) Margaret Miyake - Sashiko Donna Patrick - Nuno Felting (see description below) Ann Nash and Katie D’Aprile - Hand Quilting Nuno   Felting   is   a   fabric   felting   technique   developed   by   Polly   Stirling,   a   fiber   artist   from   New   South   Wales, Australia,   around   1992.     The name   is   derived   from   the   Japanese   work   “nuno”   meaning   cloth.      The   techique   bonds   loose   fibre,   usually   wool,   into   a   sheer   fabric such as silk gauze, creating a lightweight felt.

Saturday June 1, 10AM to 3PM - IMPROVISATIONAL ROUND ROBIN JUDGED TEAM COMPETITION

Sponsor: Ivy Thimble Quilt Shop, Trish Straight (Judge) Location: Center Aisle WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT 3 PM Teams   of   four   show   off   their   improvisational   design   skills   in   a   timed   round   robin   formant.      No rulers   allowed.      Only   quilt   tops   will   be   produced,   with   no   quilting   or   binding   required.     Individuals   not   attached   to   a   team   prior   to   the   contest   are   assigned   to   a   team   at   the contest start. Prior   to   the   competition,   each   entrant   will   design   and   make   a   starting   composition   no   larger than   12”   by   12”.      Fusing   can   be   used   as   well   as   piecing   but   no   use   of   rulers   and   no   3D embellishment.     Any   fabric   can   be   used.   On   the   day   of   the   competition   each   entrant   will bring   a   starting   composition   and   enough   fabric   to   give   the   teammates   creative   room   to   add   to   this   composition.      In   the   spirit   of   improvisation, initial compositions and accompanying fabric selections are not to be shared with other participants prior to the start of the competition. The   finished   quilt   tops   produced   by   each   team   will   be   judged   as   a   group   in   a   blind   judging.      Awards   will   be   based   on   design,   composition   and innovation.  Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place team. Registration form will be available soon.  Sign up as soon as possible as there is a limited space for competing participants.

Sunday June 2, 10AM to 4PM - 2020 QUILT PROJECT: SIT AND SEW

Sponsor: The Bobbin Case, Inc. Location: Center Aisle Come   express   yourself   at   our   Sunday   ‘Sit   and   Sew’   art   project   to   celebrate   in   2020   the 100th anniversary of women obtaining the right to vote. Genesee   Valley   Quilt   Club,   in   conjunction   with   the   Susan   B Anthony   Museum   &   House   is sponsoring   a   Sit   and   Sew   for   the   2020   Quilt   Project.   Look   up   to   the   railings   above   our quilt show to see examples of blocks already a part of this multi-year effort. Two   machines   have   been   made   available   by   the   Bobbin   Case   Inc.   14”   center   squares   will be   the   canvas   on   which   you   can   write,   draw,   doodle,   and   express   sentiments   and ideas   surrounding   this   important   milestone   in   the   history   of   women’s   rights   in America.   Staff   from   the   Susan   B Anthony   Museum   &   House   will be   on   hand   to   help   you   flesh   out   your   ideas.   GVQC   members   will   sew   on   the   borders,   backing   and   ribbons   for   your   center   square   if   you   would like.   All   we   need   is   your   imagination   and   desire   to   express   yourself.   Take   a   break,   and   come   join   the   efforts   to   fill   the   rails   with   2020   blocks, and add even more art work to this traveling exhibit.   Every Day at the Show

Vendor   Demos    -   Many   vendors   will   be   demonstrating   products   during   the   show,   or   offering   special   demonstrations   at   specific   times   during   the day.      If   you   are   interested   in   a   specific   product   or   topic,   we   suggest   stopping   at   the   vendor   booth   early   in   the   day   to   see   when   the   demonstration is scheduled. Vendor   Shop   Hop    -   Spend   $100   or   more   at   vendor   booths   during   the   show   and   enter   to   win   one   of   the   spectacular   baskets   of   sewing/quilting goodies.     At   the   Shop   Hop   Booth   we   will   add   up   your   receipts.      Receive   a   ticket   to   put   into   the   drawing   for   each   $100   you   have   spent   at   vendor booths during the show. Gift   Gallery    -   Looking   for   inexpensive   gifts   or   gently   used   quilting   items?      Stop   at   the   Gift   Gallery   where   you   will   find   reasonably   priced   hand crafted items, new and gently used books, magazines and kits. Raffle   Quilt    Ticket   Sales    -   Tickets   for   the   Genesee   Valley   Quilt   Club   raffle   quilt,   Genesee   Valley   Friendship   Quilt,   are   available   during   the   show at   the   Raffle   Quilt   Booth   (near   the   entrance).      Drawing   for   the   winner   will   be   held   Sunday,   June   2,   2019   around   3:30   PM.      Actual   drawing   time will be announced.  Need not be present to win.  Proceeds will benefit SewGreen@Rochester and Experience Fiber Art, Inc. Quilts   For   Sale    -   Some   of   the   quilts   entered   into   the   quilt   show   are   For   Sale.      Each   “For   Sale”   quilt   will   have   a   “For   Sale”   ticket   attached   to   the quilt.      “For   Sale”   quilts   will   be   indicated   in   the   quilt   listing   in   the   Show   Program   along   with   information   on   how   to   purchase   a   for   sale   quilt.      Sales tax is collected on the purchase. Quilt   Appraisals    -   Besides   sentimental   value,   quilts   may   be   valuable   for   a   number   of   other   reasons.      Learn   what   the   value   is   of   a   quilt   that   is special   to   you.      Quilt   appraisals   are   offered   by   Linda   Hunter,   a   certified   appraiser.      Appraisals   are   by   appointment,   or   walk-ins   only   if   there   is time.
