There are many variations of the Carpenter’s Star block, which has been popular since 1880. This block is also known as Carpenter’s Wheel, Jewels in a Frame, Diamond Star and many others. The fabrics you choose, i.e. colors, solids, patterns, tones of the same color, and even scraps will enable you to create your own unique Carpenter’s Star.

Unsure about paper piecing? Learn an easy way to paper piece while making this simple block. Once you have your blocks made, the quilt can be made to look different just by rotating the blocks! We will discuss color placement, look at the blocks in EQ and share ways to rotate and make different settings.

"Break Out - Modern Log Cabin Modified Quilt”

The Log Cabin block is so versatile; a classic block with many ways to change it up. In this class we will be making a modern version of the block. Students will get basic tips on getting that good ¼” seam allowance, chain piecing and more! Once you have your blocks made, we will discuss block placement in the quilt. Like any good log cabin block, the quilt can be made to look different just by rotating the blocks!

Braid quilts are so fun and really easy to make! Learn to cut braid pieces with the Braid Template and sew a braid using Kate’s goof-proof method while making this quick and functional table runner. The Table Scraps runner is a great pattern for using up some of your scrap 2 1/2” strips. The braid is a creative technique to add to your quilting toolbox. You will be amazed at how many uses it has.
